First Day of School

August brought us the first day of school as Blake entered 4th grade and Kendall 2nd. Each year on the first day of school our cul-de-sac does a "kick-off" morning breakfast with all 17 kids on the street. Kids eat just a bit and then the Sunlight Way gangs tramples off to school.

Losing a Friend

October cannot close out without paying tribute to my dear friend, Jen Long. Jen and her family moved to Superior from Florida around 2 years ago. I met Jen as she immediately became involved with our school's PTA of which I was President of then. Jen and her family then joined our church and we became friends along the way. About 6 months after their arrival to Colorado, Jen was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. The next 18 months were filled with ups and downs and continued battles. She had a determination that was undescribable. The cancer continued to consume her and unfortunatley spread to areas that no longer could be treated. On October 30th in the early morning hours, Jen took her last breaths and went home. She fought to the very end for her family and friends.
I had the honor of being her friend. I enjoyed our phone calls, trips to the doctor and chemotherapy and visits to her home. She remains in my heart as an inspiration. Her determination, courage and postitive attitude are examples to live by. She is loved and missed by many.

HALLOWEEN

Okay I have hit the month of October. Kendall was obviously Cleopatra. Blake was a clown for school and then a bloody monster for around the neighborhood. Go figure!

School Holiday Parties

This slide show is pictures of the kids and their "Winter" parties at school. Kendall's class made gingerbread houses with frosting and lots of candy. They played BINGO and ate Holiday pancakes. Blake's class made the REAL gingerbread houses. Families had to make the gingerbread and "royal" icing and bring it to assemble. We had a fun time. Blake's teacher has a tradition of doing this task each year.

I have been a huge slacker with this blog over the last several month. So instead of working forward, I think I will work backwards and then start fresh with 2009. So Christmas photos are posted. We had a fun day. The weather was beautiful, in the 50's! The kids were up around 7am and by 8ish we were all opened and already playing. The day was simple....just the 4 of us. We miss everyone and hope you all had a wonderful holiDAY!

Kendall in action...............

Actually Kendall has a story. She and I did the Boulder Bolder this past Memorial Day weekend. She made it the entire way even in the drizzling rain. We walked with Charlie and Alyssa and had a blast. This photo is the end result of the race.

Blake in action.......

Kendall and Grace: love to dress as TWINS!

BOMBSQUAD rocks!

Since I am updating my blog from about the last 6 months, I unfortunately have lost so much detail associated with the pictures. It stinks to grow old!

Anyway, these pictures of Blake's baseball team are from a variety of games and tournaments. The most recent tournament won them a berth to a State Tournament to be held in July.

Dairy Queen stop!

If any of you know my father at all, he loves ice cream. A stop at Dairy Queen is always in the making. They took all of us to the Superstition mall in Arizona where is had a double decker ferrris wheel. The kids took a spin on that and then a spin to Dairy Queen.

Grandma and Grumpy's house in Arizona!

These are some pictures of the kids at Grandma and Grumpy's house. Kendall, for whatever reason, enjoyed dumping water on her head over their balcony railing. Kendall and Blake swam a lot and even enjoyed each other.

I caught a GAMEBALL at the Rockies vs. Brewers!

Spring Break in Arizona!

For Spring Break this year we headed to my parents home in Mesa, AZ. We caravaned with another family, the Ealy's, from Colorado to Arizona. While in AZ we went to a Rockies vs. Brewers game, swam, walked, rested, ate, visited................just have a super fun and relaxing time. The Easter Bunny made its way to grandma and grumpy's house as well.

CRAZY HAIR DAY!

Blake and Kendall had crazy hair day at school and I just couldn't get them to participate. We couldn't think of anything to do outside of how they wear their hair everyday as seen pictured. Ha! Kids had a blast and I thought I would share with all of you.

Hannah Montana sighting!

Kendall digs Hannah Montana..........for a minute I thought Hannah Montana had made a visit to the Rohm household. Oh wait, it is just Kendall going from Hannah to Miley.

We are the BombSquad, mighty mighty BombSquad!

Blake started playing competitive baseball this past October with LYBA (Louisville Youth Baseball Association). He plays on a 9 year old team with 12 fantastic kids. His team has only been together 8 months and they are outstanding. They are coached by an incredible man with a past of coaching high school ball for 14 years. The boys won their first tournament in March and won a berth to the World Series with Triple Crown. They played the championship game in the SNOW! These pictures show the boys accepting their championship awards.

Karson: the 2nd love of my life!

Just had to post a picture of my boyfriend. He is only 2 years old but everything I could have wished for! Karson is a member of the Knight family--fabulous neighbors and friends. Unfortunately they moved to Aurora last August. We miss them a ton!!

Nashville, TN: Here we come! (actually went)

I am so far behind on my blog it is embarrasing. In February we went to Nashville to visit some dear friends that we used to be neighbors with here in Colorado. The Sanderson's are like second parents and the kids are so confused they think they are all cousins. None the less, the trip was a blast as expected. We saw something like 8+ basketball games between the 4 boys and Scott. There wasn't much time for anything else. The boys played air soft each day so we didn't see them until they were hungry. Poor Kendall didn't even have one girl to hang with. Even Bogey the dog is a boy. She hung with Ronda and I and was continuously loved by the boys. We miss the Sanderson's tremendously and can't wait to visit again!!
